Edward Trecek Jr.

 

Edward A. Trecek Jr. age 75, of Logan, Iowa passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at his home in Logan. Edward was born May 6, 1941, in Omaha, Nebraska to Edward and Marjorie (Myers) Trecek Sr.   Edward attended and graduated from Logan High School, he then attended college at UNO and the University of Missouri at Maryville, with a major in piano. He was married to Glenda Smith on January 5, 1973. He and Glenda owned and operated Trecek’s Dairy Delite for 19 years. Edward also worked at Convergy’s as a Telemarketing Forecaster, retiring after twenty-two years. Edward served as Mayor for the City of Logan for two terms in the 1980’s. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, and he enjoyed playing the piano, reading, woodworking, and Nebraska football, as well as other college sports.

Survivors include his wife: Glenda of Logan, Iowa; daughter Melanie Trecek-King and husband Anthony of Hingham, Massachusetts; and son Geoff Trecek and wife Georgeen of Council Bluffs Iowa, and grandchildren: Tayler Richardson and Emma Trecek of Council Bluffs, and Ashleigh Richardson of Maple Shade New Jersey and great-granddaughter Lilly Ann Rose Moffa, also of Maple Shade. As well as siblings Dianna Schwertley, Susan Hornbeck, and Joseph Trecek.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Marjorie Trecek.

An open house celebrating the life of Ed will be held at his house in Logan on  Sunday, March 12 between 2 and 4 PM. Anyone who loved Ed and his family are welcome to come share in our commitment to remember his life with memories and joy.

    My husband and I are truly sorry for your tremendous loss and would like to express our condolences to the entire family. We cannot imagine the great pain and sorrow you are experiencing during this very difficult time. It is our sincere hope you find comfort in knowing that God has promised to “swallow up death forever” (Isaiah 25:8), and that he will resurrect our dear loved ones who have passed away. (John 5:28). May your many great memories help you find peace and comfort as you go through the coming days.
