Yvonne Cox, age 76 of Logan, Iowa (Columbus, Georgia) passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023.  Yvonne was born November 21, 1946 in Winslow, Arizona to Owen and Thelma Doyle.  She and her parents moved back to Logan in 1947.  She spent her childhood tap dancing, square dancing, participating in Girl Scouts, playing both the clarinet and bass clarinet in various school bands, and figure skating.  Many hours were also spent at the Logan pool, swimming, lifeguarding and eventually teaching swimming lessons.  Yvonne graduated from Logan High School in 1965.

After graduating from high school, Yvonne attended the University of Northern Iowa for 2 years and then transferred to Wayne State College in Kearney, Nebraska where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a minor in Business.  In college, she also swam on a synchronized swim team and learned modern dance.  After graduation, she went on to teach Physical Education and Business for 10 years at a Junior High school in Bellevue and also coached the gymnastics team.

In 1987, her family moved to Columbus, Georgia.  She was very involved in the kids’ schools, her neighborhood’s Garden Club and various volunteer opportunities.  She loved and excelled at most crafts and had innumerable hobbies.  She loved living in the South with all of the lush plant growth year round.  Countless hours were spent enjoying her lovely, enclosed courtyard where she could watch the birds, chameleons, squirrels, and any other creature that made its appearance.  She continued to call Georgia home until 2021 when she moved to Idaho.

She was a dedicated mother, up for anything, incredibly generous to anyone in need, and had a laugh that was absolutely infectious. Spending time with her grandkids and watching them do what they enjoy was a genuine pleasure for her, as well as watching her “grand-dogs.”

She will be deeply missed, but will live on in our hearts and in the many memories of special moments and good times.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Thelma Doyle of Logan, Iowa.

Survivors include her two children, Aaron Cox (Lori) of Hendersonville, TN, Alison Faber (Ryan) of Boise, Idaho.  Her sister, Sylvia Hymans (Terry) of Sun City, Arizona; grandchildren: Tyler Gregg (Ashley) of Ranger, Georgia; Gareth Cox; Anna Faber; Colton Faber; great grandchildren: Brinlee Gregg and Cooper Gregg

Visitation will be held on February 25, 2023 at the Logan Christian Church (Logan, Iowa) from 9:30-10:30 am, with the funeral service at 10:30 am.  Interment will take place at Linwood Cemetery immediately following the service. The family would like to invite everyone to meet back at the church following the interment for a luncheon and time of fellowship.

Condolences for your loss. Yvonne was a great neighbor in Columbus, GA, who enjoyed putting smiles on my boys’ faces. She looked forward to seeing their costumes each year for Halloween and hearing about their school and recreational accomplishments. We have truly missed Ms. Yvonne’s presence since moving from Georgia and know that she will be missed by many more now. Praying for God’s comfort for the family during this time of loss.

I was shocked to learn that Ms. Yuvonne had passed away. When we first started living in America, we were unfamiliar with the language and lifestyle. She was a very kind and wonderful person who helped us. I wish you
