Sylvia J. Melby, age 71, of Logan, Iowa passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Sylvia was born July 14, 1940 in Walthill, Nebraska to Edison and Lillian (Jackson) Sparks. She was married to Marvin L. Melby, July 27, 1957. They lived in the Moorhead area until 1962 when they moved to Logan. Marvin passed away March 17, 1987. Sylvia owned and operated the Old Theatre Restaurant and Lounge in Logan for many years. She enjoyed boating, camping, traveling, loved talking to her friends, watching T. V., and she loved her family and grandchildren. Survivors include her children: Jeanyce Hansen and husband Craig of Logan, Iowa; Mark Melby and wife Judy of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Brenda Hildreth of Logan, Iowa; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister: Cindy McCulloch and significant other Martin of Danbury, Iowa; brother: Ronnie Sparks of Lyons, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Lois Loy of Logan, Iowa; Joan Gau of Omaha, Nebraska. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, son Tommy, sister Linda, brother Jim, significant other Jim Sears. A Prayer Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday with family visitation following until 8:00 p.m. at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa. In Loving Memory Of Sylvia J.
