Robert D. Sears

Robert D. Sears, age 80, of Logan, Iowa passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Bergen Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Robert was born May 10, 1933 to Bruce L. and Agnes Fern (Lanpher) Sears in Logan, Iowa. Robert went to the Harmony Country School, studying Math, English, Spelling, World History and Science, he then attended Logan High School. Robert worked on his brother’s farm (Pete Sears) for two years and then worked on his father’s farm (Bruce Sears). Robert enlisted into the Army Oct 6, 1952 until November 1954 and was ranked CPL. Robert was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Logan Volunteer Fire Department member. He worked for Vickers for three years from then went on to OK Builders for a year. Worked for Midstates Auto Sprinklers, Sears Electric in Logan, Iowa, he was with Capital Construction for seventeen years and Arnold Thompson for five years. He worked and retired after eight years as a custodian for the Logan Magnolia High School, a job he really loved. On, April 7, 1962 Robert and Roma (Dague) were united in marriage and blessed with four children. Robert enjoyed camping, hunting mushrooms and fishing. Robert is preceded in death by; parents; one sister and six brothers. Survivors include his wife: Roma Sears of Logan, Iowa; children: Rick Sears and wife Laura of Winterset, Iowa; Robbie Sears and wife Carole of Logan, Iowa; Rhonda Sears of Logan, Iowa; Roshelle Downey and husband Roger of Logan, Iowa; twelve grandchildren seven great grandchildren; sisters: Bonnie Brayton of Omaha, Nebraska; Dorothy Archer and husband Adrian of Logan, Iowa; Betty Fellows of Omaha, Nebraska. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa, with Pastor Scott Weber officiating. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the church following the committal. Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post #6256 and O’Hara Seeley Post.
