OWEN LINCOLN DOYLE, age 90, of Logan, Iowa passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at his home in Logan. Owen was born April 5, 1919 in Logan, Iowa to Thomas C. and Pearl (Dakan) Doyle. Owen attended school in Logan and graduated in 1937 from the Logan High School. He attended Creighton University and Colorado University. He was employed by Fred Harvey Hotels in Gallup, New Mexico, Winslow, Arizona, Brownwood, Texas and Newton, Kansas in business management. During WW II, he served in the Navy on Tinian Island in the Mariana Islands. Owen married Thelma Yocom, March 7, 1942. In 1947, the couple returned to Logan to join T. C. Doyle in the family hardware business. Beginning with the Case family, this hardware store has provided continuous service for over 120 years. For many years Owen served on the City Council, Logan Chamber, Logan School Board, V.F.W., and was a member of the Kiwanis Club for over fifty nine years. Owen also loved working in the Yocom/Doyle Christmas Tree Business which was planted in the 1960s. Survivors include his wife Thelma (Yocom) Doyle of Logan, Iowa; daughters: Yvonne Cox of Columbus, Georgia; Sylvia Hymans and husband Terry of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren: Aaron Cox and wife Lori of Greensboro, North Carolina; Alison Cox Faber and husband Ryan of Boise, Idaho; Ben Hymans of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Adam Hymans of Ft. Collins, Colorado; great-grandchildren: Tyler Gregg and Gareth Logan Cox. Owen was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Visitation with the family will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Logan Community Center following the committal service. Military Honors will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post 6256 and OHara Seeeley Post.
