Norma Jean Turner age 80 of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed from this life on June 7, 2016, at the Westmont Care Center in Logan, Iowa. Norma was born at Dry Lake near Mondamin in Harrison County on October 5, 1935, the first child of J. A. and Sybil (Edwards) Wallis. Norma was baptized on October 25,1951 at the Church of Christ in Mondamin. She attended school at the Mondamin Consolidated School. She was employed at the Pendleton Woolen Mills and the Lucent Company for thirteen years and fifteen years, respectively. She was self-employed for the last twenty years of her work life as a caregiver. Norma was a country girl at heart and loved coming home to the farm and did so nearly every weekend. She will be remembered for her stylish clothes, immaculate house, and love for her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Amy Turner of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Kay Sturm (Rick), grandsons Jordon and Hayden Sturm of Council Bluffs; two brothers: Malvern Wallis (Dorothy) of Mondamin, and Lyle Wallis of Pisgah; eight sisters: Yvonne Clark (Lawrence) of Richmond, Missouri, Geraldine Hesiterkamp (Ronald) and Linda Faylor (Timothy) of Mondamin, Carol Leeper (Richard) of Council Bluffs, Suzann Tierney (Michael) of Omaha,Nebraska, Janice Gadberry (Michael) of Cedar Rapids, Kimberly Pruett (James) of Flemington, Missouri and Pam Miller of Nacogdoches,Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, sister Merry Green, brothers Milton Wallis and Virgil Wallis, and her beloved son, Bruce Kevin Turner. A luncheon hosted by the family will follow at the Mondamin Community Center.
