Mathilda Barbara McEvoy, age 102, of Logan, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Westmont Nursing Home in Logan, Iowa. Matilda had lived at Westmont for three years and eight months. Matilda was born on October 12, 1913 in Neola, Iowa to John and Anna Gayman. Matilda met Edward McEvoy (while helping his sister with child care) and then again at a barn dance, where Matilda was cording the piano while her dad and uncle played the fiddle for the barn dance. Matilda married Edward McEvoy on October 13, 1933 in Sioux City, Iowa. They farmed in Logan, Iowa for almost 70 years. Matilda was a member of the St. Annes Catholic Church in Logan, Iowa. Matilda and Edward were married for almost 67 years. Edward preceded her in death in June of 2000. Matilda was preceded in death by her husband Edward McEvoy, son-in-laws; Lowell Armstrong, Robert Mothershead, Dwane Dahl and Jan (Bo) Bradfield, grandson Richard Lovell and great grandson James Staregowski, four sisters, and two brothers. Survivors include Mary Ann Mothershead of Anchorage, Alaska, Ellen Dahl of Magnolia, Iowa, Joan Clark and husband Monte of Mondamin, Iowa, Frank McEvoy and wife Anna Pauline of Gretna, Nebraska, Rose Bessembinders and husband Jake of Gretna, Nebraska, Patrick McEvoy and wife Colette of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mike McEvoy and wife Nancy of Crescent, Iowa, seventeen grandchildren, step grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great grandchildren. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa.
