Linda Lee McHugh

A celebration of life in honor of Linda will be held at the Eagle’s Club, F.O.E. 3876, 118 S. 5th, Missouri Valley, IA. on March 1, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. There will be food and a (limited) open bar.  All friends and family are welcome.

Linda Lee McHugh, age 82, passed on peacefully January 15, 2025, at home, surrounded by family, ending a courageous battle against COPD.  Linda lived her life fully, active through retirement with hobbies of crocheting, sewing, gardening, woodworking and reading.

Born November 21, 1942, in Oskaloosa, IA., to James A. and Wilma V. Clark (Parker).  Linda attended Bussey, IA. School until James moved his family to Logan, IA. to establish James Clark Trucking.  Linda married Robert McHugh in 1960 and later divorced.  They had 3 children, Terry, Randy and Kelly.  Linda’s working career included private secretary, bookkeeping, and decades of bartender service.  Linda bowled many years on leagues at the Tamarack in Missouri Valley.  She retired in 2004 from The Pub, in Logan, IA.

In retirement she started Linda’s Sew N Saw creating beautiful birdhouses, various wood crafts, quilts, and afghans.  Her biggest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She hosted birthday parties with all the homemade goodies for them, helped with school projects, along with quiet times doing puzzles together, sharing a bowl of ice cream or reading books.  Linda practiced organic gardening, way before it was a thing, growing and preserving her own foods.  2024 was her last garden season, producing cukes, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers and sweet potatoes all on her deck.  She was an amazing fixer-upper using “let’s get it done with what we got thinking”.  A beautiful woman inside and out, she was an inspiration to her family.  Linda continues to be deeply missed.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, son (Terry), nephew (Steven Clark) and the love of her life, Terry Jacobsen (TJ).

Linda is survived by daughter (Kelly) and son (Randy), brother (James L. Clark) (Jr.)(spouse Roxanne), sister (Mary Miller)(spouse Pat), Grandson (Adam Thompson) (spouse Jessica), great-grandchildren (Kylo and Aurora Thompson), Granddaughter (Allyson Gettman) (spouse Mitch) and great-grandchild (James Gettman) expected in May 2025.

Our sincere condolences. She was such a sweetheart and we have many fond memories. We are so sorry, but will not be able to attend to the memorial. We will be in Des Moines watching our grandson wrestle.

My sincere condolences Kelly and family. Linda was a very kind and loving person. I will cherish the throw she crotched for me. I enjoyed the time I was able to care for her.
