KATHERINE L. DICKINSON

Katherine Dickinson, 81, of Logan, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

    Katherine was born January 3, 1938, in Logan to C.E. “Shorty” and Geraldine “Pat” (Peterson) Arbaugh. She graduated from Magnolia High School in 1955. She was married to Lloyd Dickenson, April 10, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Logan. To this union they were blessed with six children.

     Over the years, Katherine worked at many places around Harrison county: Eddy’s Restaurant, Missouri Valley, Iowa, apple and berry picking for various local orchards, Fetter’s Restaurant in Logan, Iowa, Hawkeye 127, Mondamin, Iowa, and Perfection Press in Logan, Iowa. She enjoyed attending and volunteering at the Logan Senior Center. Some of her hobbies included gardening and solving many forms of puzzles. She enjoyed card games, board games and bingo whenever possible. She was recently baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

     Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents; sister and brother-in-law (Susan and Fran Ford); brother (Dick Arbaugh) and son-in-law (Brian Birdsall).

  She is survived by six children: Mary Hember of Logan, Iowa; Carol Birdsall of Mondamin, Iowa; Scott (Pam) Dickinson of Owatonna, Minnesota; Lori Benton (Rick) of Bellevue; Nebraska, Lee Dickinson of Logan, Iowa; Beth (Stuart) Beck of Arlington, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, brother Chuck (Cindy) Arbaugh, sister-in-law, Karen Arbaugh and many other relatives and friends.

    Visitation with the family will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 31st at the LDS church in Logan, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with inurnment immediately following at the Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, Iowa. 

    A luncheon will be served at the church by the Relief Society.   

    In lieu of flowers the family requests any Donations or Memorials be given to the Harris Grove Cemetery Association; Magnolia Old Settlers; Logan Fire and Rescue Department.

    My sympathies to your family at this time of deep sorrow. Death of a loved one brings great sadness but our Heavenly Father promises us that he will bring us comfort at Romans 15:5. I hope that family, friends and your memories will bring you a measure of peace and calm.
