
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa.
Jerry Lee Surber Sr. age 81, of Logan, Iowa passed away on August 24, 2025, at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Jerry was born on January 21st, 1944, in Logan, Iowa, the son of Bill and Irene Surber.
Jerry married Nancy Faye Schlotfeld on February 14, 1968. They were married for 57 years and had 2 children, Jerry Surber Jr. and Debra Surber.
Jerry spent a brief time working for Union Pacific Railroad before he entered into the grocery business where he worked primarily as a meat butcher until he retired in 2011.
Jerry liked the outdoors and enjoyed going fishing, coon hunting, mowing his yard to keep it looking good. Sitting on the front porch with Nancy watching the birds and deer wandering through the yard was another favorite pastime of Jerry’s. He also loved picking on his grandchildren and spoiling his favorite dog, Toby.
Remaining to cherish Jerry’s memory are his wife Nancy Surber and children Laurie Hatfield, Michael Surber, Julie Kaye Daniels, Jerry L. Surber Jr, Debra Surber and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister Connie Surber and brother Jeffery Surber.
Preceding Jerry in death are his parents Bill Surber and Irene Surber, brothers Danny Surber, Larry Surber, Denny Surber, Kevin Surber, one granddaughter Leann Gochenour and grandson Danny White.

Nancy & Family, I am so very sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. I remember the good ole’ days when Jerry worked at Moore’s Grocery Store. I always loved going in there when he was working. He was a great guy & will be missed.
