The Lord called Ileen Jensen of Logan, Iowa, to her heavenly home on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 19 days.
Ileen Fern Haferbier was born Jan. 20, 1930, to John and Nellie (Plummer) Haferbier. She lived her entire life in Harrison County, Iowa. Ileen attended Starry Point Country School for most of her educational years, spending the last year at Pleasant Hill Country School, where she graduated. Ileen met Norman (Norm) Jensen at a 4th of July celebration, and they began dating shortly after. On Sept. 7, 1946, Ileen and Norm were married in Papillion, Nebraska. In their 60 years of marriage, they were blessed with two children, Jon and Nancy.
Ileen worked at Wilkerson Manufacturing in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, G&L True Value in Logan, Iowa, and at Logan-Magnolia High School as a cook. She and Norm loved riding motorcycles and spent many hours traveling all over the country with their longtime friends Dwane and Blondie Dahl. Norm passed away Feb. 14, 2007.
Ileen enjoyed crocheting, fishing, camping, rodeos (especially bull-riding), garage sales, birdwatching, watching NASCAR, the Olympics, doing yardwork and gardening, and playing Aggravation. She was a longtime member of the Christian Church in Logan. She loved her family and her friends, and she lived life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norm, her son, Jon, her daughter, Nancy, and her brother, Earl. She is survived by her grandchildren, Tessa Palmer (Remick) of Wakefield, Michigan, Troy (Meagin) Wallis of Glenwood, Kyan (Rebekke) Wallis of Logan, Shon Wallis of Glenwood, and Dane Jensen of Hillsboro, Oregon. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Kyhler, Josselyn, Kaley, Alexa, Jeffrey, Barrett, Kanton, her nieces and nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be 5:00pm~7:00pm Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa.
Ileen’s family gratefully acknowledges your attendance and kindness evidenced in thought and deed, and by expressions of sympathy cards, food, flowers and memorials. They invite you to join them for a lunch in the fellowship hall at the Christian Church following interment. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Logan Fire and Rescue or the Logan Christian Church.
