Ida Graves Block, 83, of Idaho Falls, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, July 27, 2014, at her home in Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Community Ida was born October 16, 1930, in Woodbine, Iowa, to Lester Vern Graves and Lillian Maud Barnum Graves. Growing up in southwest Iowa, she attended high school in Missouri Valley, Iowa. After graduating high school, she married Duane W. Block from Magnolia, Iowa. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1998, shortly before his death in 1999. Duane and Ida had five children, Kenneth, Karen, Connie, Larry, and Kathy. A wonderful mother, Ida was more than just a mother to her children, she was also a friend. Ida worked as Office Manager in the Social Services Department for the State of Iowa in Logan, Iowa for thirty years. She retired in 1992. She came to Idaho Falls two years ago to be near her family. Ida was very active teaching Bible School for four-year-olds, being a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, sewing for several people, including Parochial School uniforms for the Goldstein-Chapman Store in Omaha, Nebraska. She loved sewing for her children as well as knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed bowling and attending several team tournaments, which took her to several of the United States. She enjoyed boating and camping, playing cards and visiting with friends and family. Ida loved family reunions where her kids and grandkids could get together and enjoy each others company. She looked forward to their many trips traveling to various places to see those grandbabies! Ida is survived by daughter, Karen Poduska of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Connie (Mike) Carrier of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Larry (Tina) Block of Imperial Beach, CA. daughter, Kathy (Robert) Clark of Idaho Falls, ID, brother, Lewis (Shirley) Graves of Raton, NM, brother, Don (Eva) Seyler of Missouri Valley, IA, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Duane, a son, Kenneth Block, three grandchildren, Angela Block, Justin Block, and Christopher Block, two brothers, Delbert Seyler and Bill Seyler, and a sister, Hazel Brown. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Logan, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the church following the committal service. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to dear friends, as well as all those who gave loving care. Idas Motto: When you are working, work hard and dont cheat. Be kind to all animals. Appreciate what you get and take care of it. But most of all, treat your parents and others with respect. Respect the rights and properties of others.
