Harold D. O’Neill, age 90, was called to his eternal home on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at his home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Harold was born March 24, 1922 at the home of his parents, Edward and Mary (Sheahan) O’Neill, in Harrison County. He graduated from Beebeetown, Iowa High School in 1940. Harold was united in marriage to Thelma K. Foje on August 27, 1942. They were blessed with four children. The couple raised their family on the family farm outside of Beebeetown. Upon retirement in 1993 Harold and Thelma moved to Logan before settling in Council Bluffs in 2010. Harold served as a member of the school board at both Beebeetown and Tri-Center schools and took pride in the fact he was an instrumental member of the consolidation of the Tri-Center School District. Harold was a lifelong farmer and cattle feeder who enjoyed attending cattle auctions when time allowed. Of particular interest was harvest time when he was summoned to do custom combining in Harrison and Pottawattamie Counties. He took great pride in his work and loved working the land. He was also manager of Harr-Mona FS in Logan in the 70’s, and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a lifelong member of the Farm Bureau. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan Elaine O’Neill, sister Alice O’Neill Wakehouse and brother Donald E. O’Neill. Survivors include his wife: Thelma of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sons: Paul (Patsy) of Neola, Iowa; Rick (Patti) of Logan, Iowa; Randy (Wanda) of Carroll, Iowa; seven grandsons; seven step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; seventeen step-great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brother: Loyd (Margaret) O’Neill of Neola, Iowa; many nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa.
