Gerald (Jerry) Sorick, age 84, of Logan, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Jerry was born on April 1, 1933 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Raymond and Helen (Bice) Sorick. He attended Elementary School in Missouri Valley and graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1952. Jerry entered the U.S. Army in 1953 until 1955. While in the Army he earned his two years of college credits. He worked for the U.S. Army Corps, in Omaha working there from 1956 until 1968 and served as Accounting Technician working his way up to Assistant Chief of Accounting Division. He transferred to the U.S. Naval Reserve Training Command in May of 1968 as Budget Analyst. When the base closed in 1972 he went to Offutt Air Force Base until resigning from Civil Service due to another possible transfer. He worked for Hugh Tamisiea and Charles Smith III, Attorney’s at Law, doing legal work and income tax work. He went to work as the City Administrator for Logan a job he held from 1974 until 1996. After retiring he went to work for Olsen Farms doing their book work and office duties. He was a member of Logan Kiwanis. Jerry married Doris Dungan April 29, 1962.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Helen Sorick.
Jerry is survived by his wife Doris “Dodie” Sorick of Logan, Iowa, daughter: Amy Dunn and husband Jeremy, sons: Stephen Sorick, Paul Sorick all of Logan, Iowa, and Douglas Sorick and wife Charity of Shenandoah, Iowa, grandchildren: Ryan Dunn, Megan Dunn and Keira Dunn, step grandchildren: Christopher Porter of Atlantic, Iowa, Jessica Porter and Nathaniel Porter both of Shenandoah, Iowa, brother: Eugene Sorick and wife La Vera of Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Visitation will be 6:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa.

Jerry will be greatly missed! He was a great Sunday school teacher and such a kind person with such wonderful smile on his face.
