Gail LaVerne Dickinson, age 78, of Logan, Iowa, passed away on October 27, 2017 at Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Gail was born on August 9, 1939 to Willie and Evelyn (Swanger) Dickinson in rural Harrison County. Gail attended Mount Hope Country School and graduated from Logan High School in 1957. He married Jean Marie Sprinkle in January of 1958 in Harlan, Iowa. Jean passed away on February 11, 2011. Gail worked at a local gas station, he later owned and operated his own station, called Gail’s Service. In 1975 Gail went to work for Harrison County Road Department as a mechanic and retired after twenty seven years of service. Gail spent his whole life in Logan. As well as being proud of his 3 children, and grandchildren, he was also proud of the 47 years he spent on the Logan Volunteer Fire Department, serving in many capacities over the years and as fire chief.
Gail is preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean, and brother Marvin Dickinson.
Survivors include his three daughters; Gayle Dickinson of Omaha, Nebraska, Jane Calhoon of Omaha, Nebraska and Geri Dickinson of Logan, Iowa. Grandchildren; Paige (Matt) Riley of Lincoln, Nebraska, Danielle Calhoon of Omaha, Nebraska, Derek (Nikki) Burton of Omaha, Nebraska, Christopher (Molly) Dickinson of Logan, Iowa, great granddaughter Nora Burton, sister Glenda (Jim) Gibson of Logan, sister-in-law Evelyn Dickinson of Omaha, and brother-in-law Richard Joy of Harlan, Iowa, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Family invites everyone for a time of lunch and fellowship at the Logan Christian Church following the committal service.
