Franklin C. Vaughn

Franklin C. Vaughn, age 78, of Logan, Iowa passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on December 1, 1939 in Charter Oak, Iowa to Amos and Alice Vaughn. After High School Graduation in 1957, he served his country in United States Navy on a Submarine called the USS Rock. Frank was a heavy equipment operator specializing in. long boom cranes and the largest dragline in the United States. In his life Frank had many adventures to name a few stunt car driver for the movies and TV. Owned and raced dragsters. Built and showed hotrods, winning multiple trophies and put on charity car shows. Frank would take his mother to the Price is Right. She was a big fan. On one occasion he became a contestant and won a car. Frank was married to Carolyn for 2l years. They met over their love for Hot Rods while living in California. In 2003 they moved from California to Missouri Valley, IA to live closer to his family. Frank had multiple hobbies his favorite tinkering in his garage, also camping and fishing with his family. Frank was the most loving and giving man anyone would meet. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

Franklin is Survived by his wife Carolyn of Logan sister, Karen Weber (Richard) of Waterloo, IA, 8 children Steven Vaughn, Dennis Vaughn, Sue Vaughn-Beck all of Salt Lake City, Utah, Brenda Blanco Vaughn, of Exira, IA, Franklin Vaughn II (Jody) of Logan IA, Mark Vaughn of Stockton, CA, Step Son Robert Williamson (Jamie) of Kansas City, MO, Step Daughter Christine Williamson of Logan, IA, He has 3l Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren, and Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Amos, mother Alice brother Kenith, sisters Deanna Kasperson, Shirley Booher, Betty Bumgadner. and step son David Williamson.

Visitation and viewing will be held Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa.

Family is requesting that in Lieu of flowers a donation be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in his name.

Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 6256 and O’Hara Seeley Post.
