Edith Edie Dougherty

EDITH M. “EDIE” DOUGHERTY, age 72, of Logan, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Edie was born May 17, 1938 in Las Animas, Colorado to Mabel Boss and raised by Nels and Mabel Wicks. She graduated from the R. A. Long High School in Longview, Washington. Edie was married to Gary Johnson in 1956, and Gary passed away in 1965. Edie moved to Bellevue, Nebraska and worked at Offutt Air Base. She was married to Bill Dougherty and they farmed in the Missouri Valley area and Edie also worked for the Jeffrey Sock Company. She later opened the Logan Fitness Center which she operated until her death. Edie loved her Church and teaching CCD Classes, gardening, flowers, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her sons: Timothy Johnson of Logan, Iowa; David Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska; mother: Mabel Soper of Logan, Iowa; grandchildren: Nathan Johnson, Megan (Trevor) Miles, Jenny (Tony) Jager, Dustin (LeighAnn) Johnson, Ashlen Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Heather Salter; great-grandchildren: Jordan and Alyssa Jager, Hailee, Grabriel, Mitchell Showers, Brooklynn Johnson, many other relatives and friends. A Rosary will be said at 5:00 p.m. Sunday with family visitation to follow at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa. The family would liked to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Logan Community Center following the committal service.
