Bernard Barber

 

 

 

 

Bernard “Bernie” Eugene Barber was born September 4th, 1943 in Newell, SD to Alfred (Gene) Barber and Laura (Bunn) Seieroe. He graduated from Newell High School in 1961. He was married to JoAnne Raus on February 7th, 1964 in Blair NE.

Bernie was a welder, he worked at Sno-Co, Obeco, Union Pacific, Tomasek Machine Shop, Vulcan Industries and Arnold Tool.   He was a welding instructor at Job Corps in Denison IA. He also worked in the orchards.

Bernie enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches, playing cards, fishing, hunting, and dancing. They enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales looking for antiques for their business, Touch of Past.

Bernie was preceded in death by his wife JoAnne; parents Alfred (Merle Edith) Barber; Niels (Laura) Seieroe; in laws Joseph (Lydia) Raus; step brother Jim Hedrick; step brother/sister in law Jerry (Eleanor) Hedrick; step sister/brother in law Donna (Bob) Jones; brother in laws/sister in laws Reynold (Marilyn) Raus; Leonard (Delores) Raus.

Survivors include sons: Gene and wife Cathy Magnolia IA; Shaun Barber and significant other Marie Giramonti of Council Bluffs IA; grandsons Trent and Tyler Barber; great-grandsons Hunter and Finley Barber; great-granddaughter Faith Gibson. Special friends Samantha and Aaron Biereis; sister in law Edna Hedrick; many nieces and nephews; special friend Amy Whited (store bought kid).

Visitation will be held at Logan Memorial Chapel, Logan IA on Friday August 5th, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church Logan IA on Saturday August 6th, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.

The family invites everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the church following the committal service at the cemetery.
